Dairy cows, young cattle & calves
On our farm we keep around 30 dairy cows, 10 young cattle and 15 calves of the Tyrolean Fleckvieh and Jersey breeds.
Many of our cows, cattle and calves spend the summer months (from mid-June to mid-August) grazing on the high mountain pastures around Nauders and the neighbouring villages. They find the juiciest grasses and herbs there.
Two dairy cows and two calves stay back on the farm with us all summer and provide everyone with fresh milk every day.
You are welcome to visit the cows and calves in the barn or grazing in the pasture whenever you wish. In the evening, you can watch them being fed, milked, mucked out, their straw beds made as well as the calves being fed.
From mid-August our barn gradually fills up. We start bringing some of the females who spend their "summer holidays" in the mountains back to the farm, for they will soon give birth to their calves. Maybe you will be lucky enough to witness the birth of a calf.
